The index file allows the programs to access or find a record in the master file rapidly. As new records are added, these index files become less efficient and cause the system response time to become slower. At any time, and AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY, you may access this option that reorganizes the index files and restores the system to normal efficiency.
Select Payroll Menu >> Admin >> Rebuild Index Files.
You will be alerted to the necessity of this option and asked if you would like to continue. Enter either (Y)es or (N)o.
The option will rebuild the index files and then return you to the Payroll Menu.
